Draft Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan

Representation ID: 32317

Received: 19/09/2018

Respondent: Gedling Liberal Democrats

Representation Summary:

Comments refer to shelford.
Main focus is on the existing high traffic levels on the A6097 and rush hour congestion. Another 116 HGV lorry movements per day would make this worse.

Respondent: Derbyshire County Council

Representation Summary:

The approach set out in Policy MP2 is supported as it makes provision for a steady and adequate supply of sand and gravel, whereby there should be no significant implications for Derbyshire.

Draft Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan

Representation ID: 32373

Received: 17/09/2018

Respondent: Nottingham City Council

Representation Summary:

MP2s
A planning application is being determined by Nottinghamshire CC and Nottingham CC for this proposal.
This site will need to be fully justified and assessed against all alternatives to determine the most sustainable pattern of mineral extraction across the plan area over the plan period. This will include fully assessing potential impacts on flooding, the historic environment, landscape, the green belt, air and water quality, biodiversity assets including the nearby SSSI, highway network, etc. It is noted that the SA for this site has a number of unknowns and some significant negative scores for many of the SA objectives.

Respondent: Mick George

Representation Summary:

MGL has no comment about the specifics of the allocations except to reiterate the need for more provision in the form of new quarries and a more equitable spread of sites among the industry. Thus MGL wishes to promote is own site at Flash Farm, Averham.

Respondent: Brett Aggregates Limited

Representation Summary:

A geographical spread of sites across the county is supported. Based on the evidence provided it is argued that the shelford proposal if allocated would maintain the geographical spread of permitted reserves across the county.

Received: 28/09/2018

Respondent: Barton PC, Thrumpton PM, Lark Hill RA, Clifton Village RA, SAVE

Representation Summary:

Issues and Options SA evaluated five options.
Concluded that "Options A and C scored equally favorably and were more sustainable than the other options". We object to this conclusion as the analysis is flawed. Reasons include:
Summary on Page 50 there is " considerable uncertainty" as to the possible impacts of the options on the sustainability objectives; half of them were not included in the scoring due to lack of detail. As a result of such uncertainty, a precautionary approach would suggest sustainable outcomes are more likely to be achieved if sites are considered on their individual merits than by the application of general criteria such as geographical spread.

Draft Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan

Received: 28/09/2018

Respondent: Tarmac

Agent: Heaton Planning Ltd

Representation Summary:

Tarmac are supportive of the approach to work permitted reserves as well as allocating extensions to existing operations and through the provision of new greenfield sites. However there needs to be an allowance in the Plan for both non-allocated extensions and new greenfield sites to come forward to provide flexibility. There should not be a sole reliance on quarries physical location in the county. Disappointed that Besthorpe quarry east was not allocated and there is a clear need for the North Road east quarry and Burridge Farm proposals.
