Draft Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan

Representation ID: 31380

Received: 26/09/2018

Respondent: Barton in Fabis Parish Council

Representation Summary:

Issues and Options SA evaluated five options.
Concluded that "Options A and C scored equally favourably and were more sustainable than the other options". We object to this conclusion as the analysis is flawed. Reasons include:
Summary on Page 50 there is " considerable uncertainty" as to the possible impacts of the options on the sustainability objectives; half of them were not included in the scoring due to lack of detail. As a result of such uncertainty, a precautionary approach would suggest sustainable outcomes are more likely to be achieved if sites are considered on their individual merits than by the application of general criteria such as geographical spread.

Respondent: Mr Ben Wilson

Representation Summary:

I wish to object to MP2s following reasons:

SA shows the proposal is one of the most damaging assessed. It will impact SSSIs, LWS. And is in the Green Belt, with ancient woodland adjacent.

As "there is no published data related to geographical spread". There is no consideration of regional exports. Sites with barge transport have not been allocated going against plan policies.

There would be a major impact on quality of life and visual amenity, as well as the loss of peace and tranquility in an area used extensively.

The Draft Minerals Plan argues against itself and is unsound.

Objection to Sand and Gravel Provision MP2S, Mill Hill, Nr Barton-in-Fabis.

Please can you not build a quarry here because it will get too noisy and there will be too many trucks. I don't want anybody to breathe in dust and there are so many animals and I don't want them to die.

I wish to raise my objection to the inclusion site MP2s on the following grounds.
* Damage to the local environment.
* Geographical spread of sites.
* An absence of projections for demand in the different sub markets.
* A failure to prioritise sites with a potential for transporting sand and gravel by river barge water.
* Impact on local sites of Special Scientific Interest.
* Impact on the Greenbelt and Brandshill/Clifton Woods.
* Noise and dust.
* Lorry movements.
* Impact on the visual environment.

Representation Summary:

I object to MP2s because:
SA shows the proposal is one of the most damaging assessed. No data available to support the geographical spread of sites and the exclusion of Shelford and Coddington cannot be justified. The proposal is in the greenbelt and will impact SSSIs, LWS and has Ancient woodland adjacent. Sites with barge transport have not been allocated going against plan policies. There would be a major impact on the quality of life and visual amenity of local people, as well as the loss of peace and tranquillity in an area used extensively by a wider community.

I wish to object to site MP2s because:
Lark Hill retirement village lies in the line of prevailing wind and therefore will be heavily affected by dust and noise, a health hazard for residents who are predominantly over the age of 65.
Additionally I would stress that most residents suffer from breathing problems which will be affected by the dust and cause health to decline.

Representation Summary:

I wish to object to site MP2s because

The council has over ridden its own sustainability assessment and included the most sensitive site due to location. The loss of the area would greatly impact residents in Nottingham who can currently enjoy a quite, rural environment that will be devalued by dust and noise and loss of wildlife. The vistas will be screened and the industrial plant will cause a loss of the visual landscape, especially from attenborough nature reserve. We do not need the mineral and should consider the damage in a more strategic way with proper mineral planning required.
