Charnwood Borough Council strongly supports the objective of the policy to promote the sustainable transport of minerals. However, the policy wording may need to be tightened up ,particularly the second bullet point which refers to 'viability' while the supporting text refers to transport assessments. It may also need to more explicitly reflect the fact that minerals can only be exploited where reserves exist and that minerals may serve regional and national markets.
