Draft Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan

Representation ID: 31131

Received: 28/09/2018

Respondent: Mrs Jackie Armstrong

Representation Summary:

CAGE believes (paragraph 3.45) that the increasing physical size of HGVs should be resisted and that their ever-growing percentage of traffic in the main highway routes and roundabouts intimidates car drivers. This situation will worsen as the East Midlands is promoted as a transport and distribution hub. (The single-lane A17 near Coddington, removed from trunk-road status since 2002, now carries a higher proportion of HGV traffic than either the A1 or A46 in the Newark area.) Displacement of local traffic onto minor roads impacts safety and congestion, discouraging access to amenities and commercial centres.
