Where traditional building materials can be reclaimed for reuse - to repair or enhance heritage assets and their settings, or to support local distinctiveness - this is better than lower-level recycling as general building aggregate. We should look for ways of encouraging this hierarchy of salvage and reuse over the lower level of aggregate regeneration within a redevelopment site.
