5.127 All proposals for minerals development (without exceptions) should be supported by a detailed site-specific land classification survey, including ratings land quality based on the full scale 1, 2, 3a, 3b etc accurately assessing the BMVAL present.
3 & 5.41, 5.42 CAGE agrees that it is vital that soil quality is treated with the greatest care, adequately protected and maintained over the lifetime of the development. All sites should be required to submit a soil-handling scheme. Site establishment planning should forsee staged and early restoration and land should be returned to productive use at the earliest opportunity.
