Minerals Local Plan Issues and Options consultation

Representation ID: 30399

Received: 14/01/2018

Respondent: Mrs Jackie Armstrong

Representation Summary:

Page 20 paragraphs 3-6: Sand and gravel are low value minerals which should be extracted close to where they are used. This minimises the environmental, social and economic impacts of extracting and transporting them and keeps users more aware of the adverse impacts they cause. Some sites are needed in the South and West to service Nottingham and the Rushcliffe growth points - it is not sustainable to service the whole County and South Yorkshire from the Newark area. For South Yorkshire, quarries outside of Nottinghamshire may now be more appropriate to service these markets sustainably.
