CAGE supports SP7, however it would like to note that National Policy defines as one of the purposes of Green Belt 'to preserve the setting and special character of historic towns.' Nottinghamshire's market towns do not enjoy the protection afforded to Nottingham and Derby, and their agricultural hinterlands and special character are threatened by the concentration of minerals extraction sites. We feel that the presence of a site within the green belt should not automatically make it less suitable for minerals extraction in the sustainability analysis scoring system.
