We believe that recovering energy from (residual) waste can contribute to a balanced energy policy. The recovery activities should not undermine preventing or minimising waste. The recovery activities should form part of a properly considered and appraised strategy. We consider that energy generated by incineration should be recovered as far as is practicable, for example using Combined Heat and Power (CHP) schemes. Whilst it is a few years old, your Authority may find the following document useful:
