Strategic Objective 1 should include an explicit reference to ensuring that any new waste management facilities minimise greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and
do not have an unacceptable adverse impact on the climate. At the very least, the following wording from SO4 of the existing Waste Core Strategy (Part 1) should
be retained: “Minimise potential climate change impacts from waste management”.
