We feel there needs to be more clarity over what is included in the Local Authority Collected Waste as this figure contradicts the figures used for the various scenarios of growth. Upon discussion with members of the Planning Policy Team it seems that this figure of circa 570,000 tonnes includes trade waste but this needs to be clarified on any future draft.

Whilst a 10% rise in recycling rates is in our opinion achievable we believe this is on the optimistic side of and will depend on the levels of any Government contribution to implement proposals set out in the Resources and Waste Strategy. This may be under threat due to the impact on the economy that we face as a result of Covid-19 and Brexit.

Clarity should be given around what is meant by '750,000 tonnes of permitted annual energy recovery capacity.' It is understood this is with regards to planning permission rather than environmentally permitted.
We would support measures that support facilities that promote the waste hierarchy.
